I was a checkered shirt flight deck
troubleshooter. On the NATO cruise we
were above the Artic Circle (got my blue
nose card) and have never been colder in
my life. We were attached to CAW-7 (AG)
but our planes tails were AK because we
belonged to CAG-10 off the
USS SHANGRALA CVA38.
We were supposed to have gone to Southampton
England After the cruise but ended up at the
"Rock" relieving the Roosevelt CVA-42 on Med
duty after the Roosevelt threw a screw.
