Established VF-43 - 1 September 1950 Redesignated VF-11 16 February 1959 Adopted the insignia used by the previous Vf-11 which had been disestablished on 15 February 1959 The newly designated VF-11 carried on the insignia and traditions of the Red Ripper Squadron dating back to 1 February 1927, but not the lineage.
VF-11 came to CAG-7 for the duration of the Planes F6C-3 Hawk * Curtis F6F Hellcat * Grumman F8F Bearcat * Grumman F2H-1 Banshee * McDonnell F8U-1 Crusader * Vought  22 Apr 59 - 30 Jun 59 Gitmo Shakedown - Guantonimo Bay, Cuba
