U.S.S. INDEPENDENCE CVA-62
Supply Department
"Hey Joe! Wanna get a clip job?"
A haircut is only one of the services offered to
the crew by the S-3 Division. These men operate
the ship laundry, dry cleaning plant, three barber
shops, one soda fountain, the smoke shop,
clothing store and the ship store.
They do an average business of more than
$100,000 each month, providing money to the ship's
Welfare and Recreation fund from their profits.
