 Navigation hold us on track

"400 yards to the anchorage Sir"

One of the most important facets of traveling isknowing exactly where you are, and that is the
function on the Navigation Department. The
qualified quartermaster (QM) on the bridge
can determine the ship's exact position by
the use of precise electronic equipment
 and the "seaman's eye."

Quartermasters also serve on the bridge as masterhelmsmen, and as the "right hand man" of the
Officer of the Deck both in port and at sea.
Our Quartermasters give fixes on the ship's
position every 30 minutes at sea, solve an
 average of seven navigational problems
every day, and updates 67 chart portfolios
 with 50 charts per portfolio.

Quite a task for the 2 officers and 21 menof navigation Department.
