For Upgrading My Old 486/66 To A HP 200 Maybe know I can Start To Put A Dent In My Back Log Of Names. So That I Will No Longer Need The Apology Below.

My Apologies
To those who have Sent their names and additional information that I have not added yet. The project has become very large and even though I work on it almost every day, it is impossible for me to keep up. I will continue to add the names and information as quickly as I can.

Thank You All
For Your Support

M Division 1986 - 1987
U.S.S. INDEPENDENCE

"Conserve water . . . take a Navy Shower"

The very fact that hot water is available for the
use of INDEPENDENCE crewmembers when
they want it is one of the reasons that
M Division is so important to the ship.

More important than just shower water, this
division has the responsibility for the
operation, repair and maintenance of the
main steam propulsion engines, steam
turbine electric generators, and
fresh water distilling plants.

Located in each of the four main machinery
spaces, the main engines receive 1200 PSI
superheated steam from the boilers and use it to
generate up to 70,000 hp to turn each of the four
screws. On days when there is no "natural wind,"
the main engines can propel the ship with
enough force to create up to 30 knots of
"man made " wind. Without this wind, the
launching and recovery of jet aircraft
would be virtually impossible.

The eight electric turbogenerators are
each capable of producing up to
1500 KW of 450 volt, 69 HZ power.

M Division - owners and operators of the
"INDY power and light company."
