"Sir, this is my third haircut this week . . ."

The United States Marines are the roughest outfit in the world and the sea-
going marines comprise the most squared away, military part of that service.
INDEPENDENCE MARINES are no exception - They Are Squared Away.

C.O. and Exec. orderlies, Color Guard, Honor Guard, Seargeant of the
Guard, Unrep Supply Guard, Payday Line Guard Security, that is the
primary mission of the Marine Detachment aboard the INDY.
In this role, they man sentinel posts over designated weapons spaces and
provide a powerful reaction force capable of instant response to any
situation. This is clearly evident if you ever have been run over by a
charging marine when the security alert team is called away. In additon
to their security jobs, the MarDet operates the ship's brig and provides
honor and color guards for visiting dignitaries and various ceremonies.
Led by two officers, this seperate command also maintains a constant
training program with typically Marine subjects as the sylabus. With all
their security and other duties, these busy young men are a vital asset to
the INDY. They are at all times military smart. They show pride in being
part of the INDEPENDENCE and she is proud to have them aboard.
