IM-3 Division 1984 - 1985
U.S.S. INDEPENDENCE
"Well, that's another day's work done,want to
go have a couple of cool ones to calibrate?"
That may sound like a malapropism to you but not
to the men of IM-3 Division.
IM-3 is the Avionics Intermediate Level Maintenance
organization aboard ship. These men repair and
calibrate thousands of electronics, ordnance and
miscellaneous equipment items during a normal
deployment. At their disposal is a multimillion
dollar inventory of some of the most
sophisticated test equipment available.
Every man in IM-3 has a substantial amount of training
and each is highly skilled in his work. The IM-3 Division
is manned by a nucleus of ship's company technicians,
supplemented by Air wing technicians TAD from
various embarked squadrons. Through hard work
and professionalism, AIMD Department's ability
to produce "top quality products"
is a fact all can be proud of.
