AIMD Department
". . . Top quality products!"
IM-2 Division provides a mixed bag of support services
for the Air Wing. The General Maintenance of AIMD
maintains and provides the crew for "Miss Liberty Belle,"
the ship's C-1A aircraft (the ship's mail plane) and
provides specialists in diverse fields for support of the
enbarked Air Wing.
The Power Plants branch performs inspection and repair
of various aircraft engines while Aircraft Structural Repair,
Hydraulic Component Repair and Aircraft Tire Build Up
are the responsibilities of IM-2's Airframe Branch.
The Parachute Loft inspects and services all the types of
aviator's survival equipment and performs maintenance
on oxygen regulators, life rafts, life vests and survival kits,
as well as repacking and inspecting of parachutes.
All Aircraft Maintenance Support equipment (yellow gear)
is maintained by IM-2's ground support equipment
professionals. The Oil Analysis Laboratory runs daily
checks on oil samples for aircraft and ship's equipment to
check for impurities and contamination.
