CS Division * 1960 - 1961 U.S.S. INDEPENDENCE

1960/61 Cruise Patches Provided by George W.Lewis

The signalmen of the CS Division send messages to
ships in company using signal flags and flashing
lights, one of the oldest arts in naval history.
The 08 and 09 level of the island, high above the
flight deck are their working spaces
Although their work load is large, like everyone
else on board, the signalmen still find time to pass
messages unofficially to and from brothers, cousins
and family members to the ships in company with INDEPENDENCE.
The "Wall-to-Wall" amateur photographers using the
signal bridge as a photographic vantage point doesn't
make their job any easier. But the signal gang and their
"Best in the Business" attitude makes their job look easy.
